Transparent Armour Testing
PBL has the on site capabilities to test Transparent armour, Ballistic and impact resistant Glass to meet the full spectrum of civilian and military protection standards.
The importance of appropriately tested and validated glass solutions cannot be understated. At PBL our full suite of ballistics testing capability can but utilised for the testing of both coupon and engineered samples of glass products.
In addition to ballistic resources we have the capability to offer a broad array of secondary protective glass tests in line with standards such as MIL-STD-11352H offering the customer a full test capability for their products from conception to market.
Facilities:
An indoor small arms ballistic test facility rated up to STANAG 4569 level 4 (14.5x114mm) and 20mm FSP, with a large target chamber to accommodate targets several meters in size as well as protected instrumentation space. PBL can conduct ballistic testing of the full range of calibres, including Fragment Simulating Projectile (FSP). With industry leading precision achieved by our dedicated charge adjustment equipment and calibrated instrumentation PBL can achieve the tightest of aimpoint grouping and velocity spreads. With a multiple screen chronograph to measure and record projectile velocities, as well as velocity decay PBL is able to quicky change between threat types & calibres as well as adjust the target orientation to achieve non-normal shot angles (eg to represent roof shots). High volume filtered extraction ensures a clean, safe and dust free working environment, especially important when testing composite and ceramic targets.
